Saturday, October 6th, 2018, Cendana High School’s basketball team went up against Bernas Binsus High School’s basketball team. The game started at 10.00 A.M. with a warm up from each team. After the game started Bernas Binsus’ team scored, but they made a foul after they scored.

Cendana started scoring points. First, two points from the captain, M. Nabiel Koto Cham (14). The next two scores came from, Satria Tofa Anugrah (15). They took a break and the current score was 8:6. 8 points from Bernas Binsus High School and 6 points from Cendana High School.

After the break, Bernas Binsus’ team made a foul. Captain Nabiel from Cendana’s team went to do the penalty shootout. Instead of going to the hoop, the ball got stuck between the hoop and the backboard.

During the break, the dancers went in to do what they’re good at. They swayed left and right, mesmerizing the audience. The Cendana dance team, or Bacen Dance Crew as they said, did a contemporary dance with a Japanese infused theme. While the Bernas Binsus’ dance team did more of a hip-hop styled dance with an extra of some color guard moves at the end. Overall, both teams did really well.

After the second quarter, Cendana’s supporters were so passionate and they sang their anthem to support the team even more. Noor Panca Maulana (8) and Firziko Muhammad A. (10) scored more points. Antasari Muhammad Falah (6) also scored twice after. Between those events, Imanuel Wahyu Widiatma (7) tripped and fell. He was taken out of the field because he was injured and he shouldn’t play at the moment. The game ended with 20 points from Bernas Binsus’ team and 17 points from Cendana’s team. Even though they lost, they took this as a lesson so they can do a much better job next time.

We interviewed Cendana’s coach (Meiza Ihsan, S. Pd), players, supporters, and dancers. The coach said, there was progress and it was better than their previous game, but they need to train more. He said, more defense and physical training are needed. He also said, Bernas Binsus’ team was more confident, focused, and their teamwork was really great. The players said it’s okay to lose; the important thing is they did their best. And they said luck was not on their side today. The supporters said today’s game was way more fun than the previous game. And then they say the players need to be better at controlling their emotions. Lastly, they said this year’s DBL event is really impressive and well organized. The dancers said the game was intense. They’re also proud of the team because they did everything they could. They’re proud of themselves because their performance was better than before.
