Nominasi Academy Awards ke-94 telah diumumkan Selasa (8/2). Film-film kenamaan dari berbagai genre meramaikan daftar kandidat yang sudah siap membawa Piala Oscar.
The Power of the Dog memimpin dengan 12 nominasi. Sutradara film tersebut, Jane Campion, membuat sejarah dengan menjadi wanita pertama yang dinominasikan lebih dari sekali untuk sutradara terbaik.
Rekannya, Steven Spielberg, juga membuat rekor baru. Sebagai produser West Side Story, yang memperoleh total tujuh nominasi, Spielberg kini telah menghasilkan 11 film yang dinominasikan untuk film terbaik, rekor baru untuk Oscar.
Denzel Washington memperpanjang rekor yang sudah dipegangnya sebagai aktor kulit hitam yang paling banyak dinominasikan, mendapatkan nominasi Oscar kesepuluh untuk penampilannya dalam The Tragedy of Macbeth.
Sementara itu, Spider-Man: No Way Home, yang meraih popularitas besar di tahun 2021, masuk nominasi dalam Best Visual Effects. Film yang dibintangi Tom Holland tersebut akan bersaing dengan peraih box office lain, di antaranya No Time to Die, Dune, Free Guy serta sesama produksi Marvel Studios, Shang-Chi and the Legend of The Ten Rings.
Pengumuman kali ini juga mengungkap nama-nama baru yang mendapatkan nominasi Academy Awards untuk pertama kalinya, seperti Beyoncè dalam kategori Best Original Song untuk lagunya Be Alive di King Richard. Namun, penyanyi berusia 51 tahun itu akan bersaing dengan Billie Eilish di kategori yang sama untuk No Time to Die.
